Paul Redmond was the inaugural Sir Gerard Brennan Professor in the Faculty of Law (2006-2020). Earlier, he had been a professor in the Faculty of Law at UNSW, Dean of the Faculty (1996-2002).
Professor Redmond has been a member of a number of academic and professional bodies concerned with corporate law reform. He was the Foundation President and is an Honorary Life Member of the Society of Corporate Law Academics. Redmond's Corporations and Financial Markets Law is in its 8th edition.
Professor Redmond also has a research and professional interest in legal education, professional and corporate responsibility, and in the application of human rights standards to business. He was Chair of the Diplomacy Training Program, a non-profit organisation training human rights defenders and grassroots organisations across the Asia-Pacific (1998-2018) and led several national and international initiatives in legal education. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2013. In 2024 UTS awarded him the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.
