Scott was called to the Bar in 2010. He practices in environmental, planning and local government law (criminal and civil), administrative law and property law. He completed a Master of Urban and Regional Planning in 2008 at the University of Sydney and was awarded the Vernon Memorial Prize in Urban and Regional Planning, the Norman Waterhouse Prize in Planning Law and the Heritage Council Prize. He was also twice Mayor of Randwick City Council (2011-2012 & 2013-2014).
