Sangeetha Pillai researches in the area of constitutional law, with a speciality in citizenship law. She has recently completed a PhD examining the constitutional, statutory and common law dimensions of Australian citizenship, and the intersections between these dimensions. Her work has appeared in leading journals, and she has presented at a range of Australian and international conferences. She has also collaborated on a number of submissions to parliamentary and public inquiries, and commented on issues pertaining to citizenship and national security in the public domain. She commenced as a Lecturer at Monash in July 2015. Prior to this, she was a Research Fellow and Director of the Federalism Project at the Gilbert+Tobin Centre of Public Law at UNSW.
