David accepts briefs in all areas of criminal law and quasi-criminal law, including disciplinary matters and inquests. He appears throughout Victoria in committal hearings, plea hearings, sentence appeals, contested hearings and bail applications in the Supreme, County and Magistrates’ Court.

David is available to appear in post-sentence applications and reviews including supervision order proceedings and Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) hearings. His practice extends to those areas where crime intersects with the common law, including OHS and police torts. He maintains a strong interest in working closely with members of the aboriginal community and has significant experience appearing as an advocate in the Koori Court. He has a strong long-term interest in working with young people and vulnerable accused managing complex legal and non-legal issues.
Prior to coming to the Bar, David worked as a solicitor advocate practising in criminal law. During this time, he worked in private practice at Greg Thomas Barrister and Solicitor, the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service and Victoria Legal Aid.

David read with His Honour Judge Simon Moglia. His senior mentor was Daniel Gurvich QC.
