In November 2018, Michelle was named ‘Barrister of the Year’ in the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards. In 2021 Michelle was elected as the Convenor of the Women Barristers Association, and was ranked by Best Lawyers in the area of commercial law.
She appears regularly in matters involving contractual disputes and consumer protection law (acting both for and against regulators). She also appears regularly in disciplinary proceedings. In addition to her textbook, Michelle has authored numerous book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals on the twin topics of consumer protection and legal ethics. Most recently her article ‘“More than a Feeling”: Finding Statutory Unconscionable Conduct’ was published in the Australian Journal of Competition and Consumer Law (2019) 27 AJCCL 108. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts (juris) and a Bachelor of Laws with first class honours from the University of Adelaide and a PhD from the University of Melbourne.
