Tahn has extensive experience in criminal matters as an advocate in the District Court in trial matters before juries and in judge alone trials around NSW, including Special Hearings, sentencing, interlocutory matters including sexual assault communications privilege, all ground, conviction and sentence appeals from the Local Court.
Tahn has appeared as Junior Counsel in trials before the Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeal and the High Court. Tahn has also appeared in the Court of Criminal Appeal unled.
Tahn also has experience in intentional tort matters before the Supreme Court and the District Court, including matters involving claims against the State of NSW for malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, collateral abuse of process, false imprisonment, assault, battery, strip searches and historical sexual assault.
Tahn also has extensive experience in the Children’s Court and Local Court in hearings, bail/release applications, s32 and s20BQ applications, committal and Early Appropriate Guilty Plea (EAGP) matters and sentencing.
Tahn is a member of the Legal Aid Summary Crime, Indictable Crime and Mental Health Panels.
Tahn has experience in all jurisdictions, including Local Court, District Court, the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the Court of Criminal Appeal and the High Court, involving State and Commonwealth Offences, including terrorism, murder, sexual offences, fraud, robbery, break and enter, wounding, assault, drug offences, firearm offences, domestic violence offences, dangerous/negligent driving causing death, arson and special hearings.
Tahn has experience in appearing before the NSW Crime Commission (NSWCC) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). She has also instructed in Coronial Inquiries and Commissions of Inquest, including multiple case studies within the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
